Terrain
The Veneto Dolomites are pale limestone walls with wide hut-to-hut tracks. Trail mixes big green valleys, stony passes and views of the Tre Cime; plenty of climbing, but with very runnable stretches between ascents.
Key areas
Climate & best season
The snow-free season runs from June to September. In late June (Lavaredo Ultra Trail time) snow can linger on the high passes and afternoon storms are frequent.
Trail culture
Cortina d'Ampezzo, host of the 2026 Winter Olympics, turns the valley into a trail festival every June with the Lavaredo Ultra Trail by UTMB, which draws thousands of runners from dozens of countries.
