    Trail pole FAQ

    Folding or telescopic poles?

Z-fold poles are more compact and faster to deploy but come in fixed lengths. Telescopic ones adjust, handy if you are unsure of your size or share them.

    What length should I choose?

A common reference: with the tip on the ground, your elbow at a right angle. You can fine-tune it with our pole calculator.

    Carbon or aluminium?

Carbon is lighter and damps vibration, but a side impact can snap it. Aluminium is cheaper and bends before it breaks.

How much should a pair weigh?

Race-oriented poles usually sit between 250 and 350 g per pair. Every gram less is felt in your arms after hours of use.

    What does “folded” mean?

It is the packed length. Check it against your vest’s pocket or bungees before buying.

Are poles allowed in my race?

It depends on the rules: some races ban them, others allow them only if you start with them. Confirm before training with them for that event.

Why are not all poles listed?

We only include models whose weight and folded length are confirmed by the brand or a named source. When a figure is unreliable the model stays out.

Can I take them on a plane?

Many airlines do not allow them in the cabin because of the tip, so they usually go in checked luggage. Check your airline’s rules.
