Larreak Bizirik Night Cross

Larreak Bizirik (“living meadows” in Basque) is a night cross-country race organised by Galar Trail with the support of the Cendea de Galar council. The start is in Olaz, a small village on the doorstep of Pamplona, at 6:30 pm on a November Saturday: by then it is fully dark and the course is lit by bonfires and torches across the meadows. It is short, fast and looks like nothing else on the Navarrese calendar.

A 6 km course by headlamp

Six kilometres of cross-country over meadows and paths around Olaz, with gentle climbing but changing ground: wet grass, the odd muddy stretch and constant changes of pace. The records (23:29 for men, 28:01 for women) show the front of the race goes flat out, but most runners are there for the atmosphere.

  • Start: Saturday 14 November 2026, 6:30 pm, Olaz
  • Bibs: only 150, at €15
  • Minimum age: 18

Only 150 bibs: registration goes fast

Registration opens Sunday 11 October at 8:00 pm on herrikrosa.eus. With such a limited field, have your headlamp sorted (compare models in our guide to the best trail running headlamps) and sign up on day one. If you have never run at night, try it on a couple of training runs first: your perception of the ground changes a lot.

Cendea de Galar beyond the race

The Cendea de Galar, with villages such as Olaz, Subiza and Esparza, is farmland minutes from Pamplona: perfect for easy runs on rural tracks before finishing the weekend with pintxos in the Old Town. Discover more races in Navarre or build your season in the race planner.
