Trail Villa de la Sidra – Les Praeres
Nava calls itself the capital of Asturian cider, and every March its trail makes it a hub for mountain running in the area too. The 5th edition is announced for 14 March 2027, starting and finishing in the village and organised by Grupo de Montaña La Peña.
A 25 km route through the Peñamayor range
The main race is about 25 km with over 1,200 m of positive elevation. It starts very fast through the streets of Nava and follows track and path to Ovín and the Pra valley. Then comes the decisive stretch: the continuous Peranchu climb to Orosu, where around 900 m of ascent is already banked by km 9.1.
The high section peaks at La Botella, followed by a fast, not very technical descent through meadows to Les Praeres, which gives the race its name. The last third includes the short, steep climb to La Barallonga, some ridge running and a spectacular descent into the Pendón river gorges, before returning via Fuensanta and Ovín to the finish. There are five aid stations and intermediate cut-offs.
A local festival atmosphere
Besides the trail, the organisers run a speed trail and a walking and Nordic walking event, so the day works as a family festival. Around the finish there is a market, a technical talk and a concert, and the Cider Museum is a few steps away.
Nava beyond the race
Use the trip to visit the Cider Museum and try a pour in one of the village cider houses. Discover other races in the Asturias region and plan your season with the race planner.
Mandatory Gear
According to the official race regulations
Carry it charged for emergencies; check the official rules for the full gear list
