13th Villacabra Trail

The Villacabra Trail is the big winter trail event in Villaviciosa, the capital of the Cider Region on Asturias’ central coast. Organised by the Grupo de Montaña Llama Ello, it celebrates its 13th edition on Sunday 13 December 2026, starting at 8:45 from the town hall square.

The race offers three options for every level: the Trail 27K, the Trail 20K and the Trail 11K, the latter with a reduced fee for young runners aged 14-19 and for adapted athletes.

A route through the hills of Villaviciosa

The routes link tracks, paths and forest across the hills around the town, with the Monte Cubera area and the Molinos del Profundu route as regular settings. It is a fast race for a trail, but with plenty of changes of rhythm and, after rain, plenty of mud.

December in Asturias

The date makes it a winter race: cool temperatures, soft ground and an early start. Bring a windbreaker, gloves and shoes with good grip, and review the gear checklist before you set off.

Villaviciosa beyond the race

Villaviciosa is cider country, and it is worth extending the weekend to visit its cider houses, the estuary and villages like Tazones. If you are looking for more races nearby, check the races in Asturias and plan your season with the planner.
