Berghaus
Berghaus Paclite 2.0 GTX
Waterproof jacket with a Gore-Tex Paclite membrane (around 330 g). Fully waterproof with taped seams, fixed adjustable hood, storm flap behind the zip and cuff adjustment. Packs down small in a vest. Heavier than a pure running hardshell, but it meets the waterproof-breathable membrane requirement in race rules and is the affordable route into Gore-Tex.

The Cascadia 20 with a GORE-TEX membrane: stability and protection for rocky mountain terrain, keeping the foot dry on cold, rainy days.

Gore Wear
Gore Wear C5 GORE-TEX Glove

Gore Wear

Lightweight waterproof glove built for running, not just standing still in the snow: a waterproof membrane with more dexterity and less bulk than a thick membrane glove, for sustained rain without giving up handling gels or poles.

Salomon
Salomon Bonatti WP
Ultralight waterproof windproof jacket (135 g). Taped seams, adjustable hood and back ventilation. Packs into its own pocket.

Salomon
Salomon Speedcross 6 GTX
The Speedcross 6 with a GORE-TEX membrane: the same aggressive 5 mm lugs for mud and soft ground, now waterproof for winter, rain and snow.

Trail das Bestas
The Trail das Bestas is the big trail running date in the Serra do Xistral, in the municipality of Muras (Lugo). With start and finish at the Área Recreativa A Veiga, its 9th edition takes place on 8 November 2026 with five formats for every level: Marathon 43K, Trail Classic 27K, Trail Curto 14K, Mini Trail 8K and a non-competitive 8K Andaina.
The race is Gold Series and awards a x5 coefficient in the federation rankings, and it was named Best Trail in Galicia 2025 at the FGA Gala. It is organised by the Concello de Muras with the support of the Deputación de Lugo, with a global cap of 600 participants.
A route through the Xistral
The Xistral is a landscape of peat bogs, heather, villages and Atlantic wind. The Marathon climbs +2,100 m, the Trail Classic +1,400 m and the Trail Curto +700 m. Official tracks will be published once the organisation validates them, so check the website before race day.
November in the Galician mountains
Expect mist, rain and waterlogged ground. Staggered starts (8:30 Marathon, 10:00 Trail Classic, 10:30 Trail Curto, 11:00 Mini Trail) help you use the daylight, but the kit matters most: lugged shoes, a waterproof jacket and a thermal blanket. Check the mandatory gear checklist so you forget nothing.
A Mariña beyond the race
Muras is a short drive from the Lugo coast of A Mariña, with Viveiro, Foz and the estuary beaches. If you want to chain more races, take a look at the races in Galicia and plan your season with the planner.
