Trail La Grajera

Trail La Grajera is a mountain race through the forests and passes of the Campoo region in southern Cantabria, starting and finishing in the small village of Lantueno (Santiurde de Reinosa). Organized by Club Deportivo Elemental La Grajera with the help of sponsors and village volunteers, the race has become a reference event for trail runners looking for mountain terrain off Cantabria’s better-known coastal routes.

A 21 km route through the heart of Campoo

The long course covers 21 km with 1,400 meters of elevation gain (2,800 m accumulated), running through beech and oak forest along the ravines of Santiurde and Valleja Negra, with steep sections that test runners with mountain experience. The organization sets a time limit of 5 hours 30 minutes and reserves the right to apply cut-off points along the course.

The hikers route, open to everyone

Runners looking for a more accessible challenge can choose the 13 km route with 500 m D+, designed for hikers: there’s no age-category classification or podium, so each participant can take it at their own pace. It’s the perfect entry point for exploring Campoo on foot without the pressure of a stopwatch.

Campoo, beyond the race

Lantueno sits within the Campoo-Los Valles region, one of the areas in Cantabria most reliant on rural tourism. A few minutes away are Reinosa, the region’s main town, the source of the Ebro river and the Ebro reservoir, as well as the Alto Campoo mountain resort. Make the most of race weekend to explore this green, less-traveled inland Cantabria. Check out more races in Cantabria and plan your calendar with the season planner.
