Carrera de Montaña Picu Turbina

The Carrera de Montaña (CxM) Picu Turbina has been held since 2013 in Rozagás, a small village in the Peñamellera Alta council, coinciding with the San Francisco patron saint festival. It’s one of the most demanding races per meter covered on the Asturian mountain calendar.

A direct climb to the summit

The route, about 12K, climbs from Rozagás to the top of Picu Turbina, right in the Sierra del Cuera, and descends back to the village through the same surroundings. The accumulated elevation gain is very high relative to the distance, making this race a true test of endurance and technique on limestone terrain.

The Sierra del Cuera

The Sierra del Cuera is a limestone range separating the eastern Asturian coast from the Picos de Europa, with mid-to-high mountain landscapes and Cantabrian Sea views on clear days. The technical terrain and concentrated elevation gain make this area a regular destination for experienced mountain runners.

Beyond the race in Peñamellera Alta

Peñamellera Alta is a gateway to the Picos de Europa from the east, with Panes as the main reference point. After the race, take the chance to explore the Hermida gorge or discover other races in the Asturias region. Check the race planner to organize your visit.
