Trail La Degollada de Candamo

The Trail La Degollada de Candamo reaches its fourth edition in 2026 as one of the season-closing events in Asturias. It takes place on 5 December in the municipality of Candamo, with the support of the Town Council, and offers a human-scale mountain day: small field, traditional paths and views over the Asturian countryside.

A 14 km route with 850 m of climbing

The main race is a 14 km trail with 850 m of elevation gain, sustained climbs that demand strong legs without reaching the severity of a mountain marathon. The start is at 10:00 from the La Degollada recreation area, and the Grullos municipal sports centre acts as the organisation’s reference point. For those who prefer to walk there is the non-competitive andarina option, sharing the same atmosphere without a clock.

December in the Asturian mountains

In early winter the ground is usually wet and muddy, and temperatures call for light layers. Shoes with good lugs, a windproof and gloves make the difference, as does solid hydration even when you do not feel like it. The published cap on places is small, so register early.

Candamo beyond the race

Candamo is a quiet municipality surrounded by hills and valleys, close to Oviedo and Avilés. Use the weekend to explore the area and try Asturian food. Discover other races in the Asturias region and plan your calendar with the race planner.
