Suarías Blincapeñas

The Suarías Blincapeñas is one of the toughest mountain races in eastern Asturias. Organised by the Asociación Cultural y Deportiva El Cantu La Jorma, it reaches its thirteenth edition in 2026 with the same recipe as ever: few kilometres, plenty of climbing and a village atmosphere you feel from the start line.

Short on paper, hard in practice

The K22 covers about 22.5 km across Suarías’ common land, known as Uzyabes, with its high point on the Gamonal (1,228 m), on the border with Peñarrubia. According to the rules, the total elevation is around 3,700 m counting ascent and descent, and the organisers themselves warn that it is a technical race with some tricky sections. There are checkpoints at km 8, 12.3 and 18.7, and the finish closes after 6 h 30 min.

The K13 Tasuguina shares the first 3.5 km and the last 3 km with the K22, and the rest runs over the Corvera hillside. For those who prefer to walk, the Andarina, about 17 km and non-competitive, offers alternative routes if you miss the checkpoint times.

Schedule and organisation

The start is at the Barriu de la Bolera: the K22 at 9:00 and the K13 at 10:00. The finish is in the Parque del Carrascal, in l’Arenal, where there is a marquee, hot showers and a meal for runners and companions. Bibs are collected on Saturday evening or on race morning.

What to prepare

November in Asturias means mud, wet rock and changeable weather. Bring shoes with good grip, light warm layers and your own nutrition plan, because aid stations are sparse.

Peñamellera Baja beyond the race

Panes and the Deva valley are close by, along with the gateway to the Picos de Europa. Discover other races in the Asturias region and plan your season with the race planner.
