Castile and Leon hosts Sierra de Gredos, Sierra de Guadarrama, and part of Picos de Europa. Ultrail La Covatilla and Trail Gredos are benchmark events in the northern plateau.

Climate in Castile and Leon: The continental climate imposes extreme conditions. Winters are harsh, with abundant snow in the ranges until May, while July and August bring stifling heat on the plateau and storms at high altitude. Spring and autumn offer the best windows: mild temperatures, accessible peaks, and landscapes in full transformation. Mornings can be freezing even in June, so always go prepared.
