Burbia Trail: the mountain awaits
The Burbia Trail is a 17 km mountain race through the Burbia valley, in the Ancares area of north-western León. It is organised by the Junta vecinal de Burbia with the support of the Vega de Espinareda town council and the Diputación de León, and takes place on 7 November 2026.
Route
Start and finish are at the village schools, at about 900 m. The opening is tough: roughly 500 m of climbing in the first 3 km to reach the ridge. The highest point is Las Chas at 1,600 m, and from there the loop mixes trails and forest tracks back to the village. In total there are 1,100 m of elevation gain. The event also includes a timed vertical kilometre.
Who it is for
The terrain is technical and the organisers recommend mountain-running experience. If you come from long ultras it works as a short, high-intensity race; if you are starting out, look at other options in the region first.
Getting ready
In November, above 1,500 m, you need warm layers and good grip. Book early, check your gear and organise the trip with the planner so nothing is left to chance.
