The stone city and its three mountains

Gubbio Trail Città di Pietra comes from a simple idea: run the trails around one of Italy’s best-preserved medieval cities. In 2027 it takes place on 10 April with a 53 km and 2,500 m of climbing as the long race.

The programme is completed by 25 km with 1,500 m and 10 km with 680 m, designed so that first-timers and climbers share the same day. All start in the old town and climb Monte Ingino, where the Sant’Ubaldo sanctuary sits.

A course of forest, limestone and medieval stone

The route climbs through beech woods and limestone ridges, passes hermitages and medieval walls and descends on cobbles that turn treacherous when wet. The climbing is not extreme but it accumulates in short ramps.

Weather and logistics

April in Umbria is mild: 10-20 °C, with frequent rain and mud in the wooded sections. The race requires no technical kit, although a shell is mandatory.

Gubbio has no train station: arrive by car from Perugia (45 minutes) or by bus. Stay in the old town to walk to the start. More Umbria races at /en/races/italia/umbria/ and kit at /en/planner/.
