Rab GaPa Trail

The Rab GaPa Trail calls itself “Dein Heimatlauf”, the home race of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Every spring it starts from the Olympia-Skistadion, the stadium of the 1936 Games, and covers the trails of the area at the foot of the Bavarian Alps.

Three courses, three ways to take part

  • Short: about 10 km and 350 m of climbing, ideal for a first race.
  • Medium: about 20 km and 850 m of climbing, over varied terrain around the municipality.
  • Long: about 26 km and 1,050 m of climbing, for those seeking something harder.

Each distance can be run with timing or done as a hiking or Nordic walking version, and there is a children’s race. The organisers care about the details: cheering spots and regional food stations on the course.

April in Garmisch

In late April snow can still linger at altitude and mornings are cool. Pack layers and shoes with good grip.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen beyond the race

If you want a bigger challenge in the same area, look at the Zugspitz Ultratrail, run in June.
