La Hoya Trail: what to expect

La Hoya Trail brings mountain runners to La Hoya (Murcia) on November 15, 2026. The organiser, C.D. Apat Lorca Cumpliendo Sueños, offers 4 routes (26K Extreme / 14K Sprint / Open 11K / Mini Trail 4,5K) for people who enjoy trails and the atmosphere of a grassroots race. It starts at the La Hoya sports hall in the Lorca countryside and mixes dry-land trails with pairs and hiking categories.

Route and elevation

  • 26K Extreme: 26 km with 1500 m of climbing.
  • 14K Sprint: 14 km with 600 m of climbing.
  • Open 11K: 11 km with 400 m of climbing.
  • Mini Trail 4,5K: 4.5 km with 150 m of climbing.

Expect a mix of trail, track and the odd technical descent. If it is your first time at this distance, start steady and save energy for the second half.

How to prepare

Combine weekend long runs with hill repeats. In the last six weeks, accumulate climbing similar to race day and practise descending, where most legs are lost. At this time of year also train in the cold and with a headlamp in case of an early start.

Gear and logistics

Shoes with medium lugs, a light pack with two bottles or soft flasks, gels and a warm layer are the basics. The Pack 360 on this page brings together gear, nutrition, accommodation and transport. Find more nearby events in the regional race list and plan your season with the planner.
