Arnedillo Trail

Arnedillo Trail is the mountain race of Arnedillo (La Rioja), a spa village wedged into the Cidacos valley, between limestone rock walls where colonies of griffon vulture nest. The fifth edition (2026) keeps its 25 kilometres and 1,584 metres of positive elevation in the long race, with a 15-kilometre option, and is part of the La Rioja Mountain Races Chiruca Experience circuit.

A 25-kilometre course

The route leaves the village and quickly gains the summits that close the valley on holm-oak and rock paths. It links short, demanding climbs with exposed ridge sections and technical descents on loose limestone. At more than 60 metres of climbing per kilometre, it is a hard race for its distance, with constant views over the Cidacos canyon and the vulture cliffs.

The Cidacos valley Biosphere Reserve

Arnedillo is at the heart of the Biosphere Reserve of the Leza, Jubera, Cidacos and Alhama valleys, a low-population territory with some of the best karst scenery in La Rioja. The Cidacos valley is also famous for its dinosaur footprint sites, several of them visitable a few kilometres away.

Arnedillo beyond the race

Arnedillo’s great draw is its natural hot pools on the banks of the Cidacos river, free and open access: the best recovery plan after crossing the finish line. The spa, the Ortigosa caves and the Rioja Baja wineries round off the weekend. See more races in La Rioja and plan your weekend with the planner.
