Ultra de los Castillos

The Ultra de los Castillos is a trail race that highlights the heritage and landscapes of southern Extremadura, starting and finishing in La Parra, in Badajoz province. The 2026 edition is the second and takes place on 30-31 October, with three distances to choose from.

Three distances, one long night

The flagship is the 100K, with 2,150 m of positive elevation and a start at 23:59 on 30 October: you run through the whole night with a 24-hour limit. The 42K marathon (1,170 m D+) starts at 8:15 on Saturday 31 and the 15K trail (349 m D+) at 9:00. There is also a 100K relay format for teams of three runners and children’s races.

Extremaduran autumn: headlamp and warmth

In late October the days are short and the nights cool. Bring a headlamp with a spare battery, a warm layer and a light windbreaker for the 100K. Check the gear checklist and the official rules for the exact mandatory gear.

Extremadura beyond the race

Southern Badajoz hides castles, dehesas and white villages worth a getaway. If you want to chain more races, see the races in Extremadura and plan your season with the planner.
