La Osera

La Osera is a mountain race held in Paterna del Madera (Albacete), a village nestled between the Sierra del Segura and Sierra de Alcaraz. The 6th edition (2026) offers four distances: a 45 km Marathon, a 25 km Half Marathon, a 12 km Sprint Trail and a 12 km Hiking option. The event is organised as a non-profit, with all income going entirely towards covering costs.

The course

The routes follow the Verdenace Trail Network, 265 km of trails approved by the Castilla-La Mancha Mountain Sports Federation. The marathon passes through landmarks such as La Almenara (1,800m), La Cuerda Larga and Los Gallineros, crossing rivers like the Viñazos, the Endrinales and Las Hoyas. A fast profile with technical sections and ridge traversals. Use our pace calculator to plan your splits on the Marathon 45K.

Sierra del Segura and Sierra de Alcaraz

Paterna del Madera lies in one of the most biodiverse areas of Castilla-La Mancha. The pine forests, holm oak groves, valleys and peaks of these mountain ranges offer authentic mountain scenery. The Verdenace trail network connects hamlets like El Encebrico, Batán del Puerto and Puerto de la Solana, allowing runners to discover hard-to-reach corners of the sierra.

OseraFest

After the race, the organisation hosts the OseraFest, a celebration bringing together runners, supporters and locals. La Osera is more than a race: it is an event born from a love of mountains and community, made by and for runners.

Check our gear checklist to prepare for the Sierra del Segura terrain, and explore more races in Castilla-La Mancha.
