Ultra Trail Lago d’Orta: the lakes’ autumn trail
The UTLO is run every October in Omegna, on the northern shore of Lake Orta, and is one of the most attractive autumn trails in northern Italy: orange-tinted chestnut woods, stone villages and ridges with views of the lake and Monte Rosa.
Four distances
- 58 km: 3,653 m D+
- 34 km: 1,720 m D+
- 21.1 km: 1,100 m D+
- 12 km: 360 m D+
There is a lot of accumulated climbing, but at moderate altitude. If it rains, mud and wet leaves turn the descents into the real exam.
October by the lake
Temperatures are mild, but weather changes: carry a windproof and a thin layer. Afterwards, the lake is a good place to recover.
Beyond the race
Discover more in the races of Piedmont and plan your season with the planner.
Mandatory Gear
According to the official race regulations
Mandatory: October brings rain and cold on the ridges.
Needed on the long distance if running in low light.
