The Finale, rock and sea in 66 km

Trail del Marchesato is the trail race of the Finale, that limestone coast between Savona and Albenga where the mountain drops straight into the Mediterranean. In 2027 it runs on 6 and 7 March with 66 km and 3,500 m of climbing as the flagship.

The programme includes the 38 km Ermano Fossati path with 2,200 m and a 16 km Mini Trail with 1,000 m. All three share historic trails, dry-stone walls and villages hanging above the sea such as Verezzi and Finalborgo.

A vertical course above the sea

The route links the Finale ridges with the coastal coves, with limestone steps, scrub corridors and technical descents into the villages. The climbing does not come from altitude but from the sum of short, brutal hills.

Weather and preparation

March in Liguria is mild on the coast and cold on the ridge: 10-16 °C, with wind and possible rain. Sea damp makes the rock slippery, so train on wet ground.

Finale Ligure is 1 hour from Genoa and 2 h 30 from Milan by train. Sleep in Finalborgo or the centre to walk to the start. More Liguria races at /en/races/italia/liguria/ and kit at /en/planner/.
