The Lot ultra, by night

The Grand Trail des Cadourques is the ultra of the Lot, a department of dry causses and river valleys where the Célé has cut a canyon of white walls. The GTC 120 adds up to 120 km and 4,000 m of climbing and leaves Cahors at eleven on Friday night.

The route crosses the medieval city, climbs onto the causses and links Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, one of the prettiest villages in France, hanging above the Célé. The life base is at Mas de Saboth around km 56, with hot food and express massage.

A family format

The Saint-Cirq 65 (64 km, 2,050 m) is the middle distance, the Divona 30 and Valentré 15 loop around Cahors and the Nox Cadurca 12 is a short night race for beginners. The Chartreux hike completes the weekend.

Preparation

April in the Lot can mean 20 °C by day and 4 °C at night. Train with a headlamp and test rain gear, because Célé mud is sticky. The organisers require a licence or medical certificate plus mandatory safety kit.

Sleeping in Cahors lets you walk to the start. More Occitanie races at /en/races/francia/occitania/ and kit at /en/planner/.
