Kilómetro Vertical Aznaitín 360

The Kilómetro Vertical Aznaitín 360 is the final round of the Andalusian Vertical Running Cup. The start is from the Plaza de la Constitución in Albanchez de Mágina, next to the town hall, and the finish is at the summit of Pico Aznaitín, at 1,741 metres above sea level. It is organised by the Albanchez de Mágina town council together with the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking (FAM).

A course of under 3 km and about 940 m of climb

The start is staggered at 11:00, and the route climbs Calle Horno, the forest track of the Arroyo de la Cañada Hermosa, the Barranco de La Salega and the Llano de Coraceros. From there the last section goes to the top:

  • Climb of under 3 km in a straight line with about 940 m of positive elevation in the absolute category.
  • Technical final section: limestone scree and passages where you need both hands.
  • Neutralised descent on a well-marked trail, with the official track published before the race. Runners return to the village under their own power.

Cadet category and cup classes

Besides the absolute race, there is a cadet race with 400 m of climb that finishes at the first aid station, at Llano de Coraceros. The absolute race awards trophies by category, from Junior to Veteran C, and there is also a local runner category for people registered in Albanchez de Mágina.

Sierra Mágina and the natural park

The race takes place within the municipality of Albanchez de Mágina and part of the Sierra Mágina Natural Park. It is a race of high difficulty, so plan to reach bib collection with time to spare and read the full regulations. To plan your trip, see the races in Andalusia or use the season planner to combine this race with others.
