Festival des Hospitaliers: southern Aveyron’s technical ultra

Nant, a medieval village on the Dourbie river, hosts one of the toughest trails in Aveyron every October. The Trail des Hospitaliers covers 75 km and 3,977 m of climbing across the limestone plateaus of the Larzac, the Dourbie gorges and the paths of the old Knights Hospitaller.

Three distances

  • Trail des Hospitaliers: 75 km / 3,977 m D+ (Sunday 25 October, 5:00)
  • Trail Larzac-Dourbie: 29.5 km / 1,482 m D+ (Saturday 24, 14:00)
  • La Nantaise: 12 km / 600 m D+ (Saturday 24, 14:30)

Punishing terrain

More than 50 m of climbing per kilometre says it all: short, steep climbs, rocky descents and slippery limestone if it rains. Aggressive-grip shoes and poles make the difference, and the pre-dawn start means a headlamp is essential.

Nant and the Larzac

Make the most of the trip with Millau and its viaduct, La Couvertoirade and the Templar villages of the Larzac. For more races nearby, see the races in Occitania and plan your dates with the race planner.
