Trail de Moixent

The Trail de Moixent is a mountain race through the hills of the municipality of Moixent, in the La Costera district of the province of Valencia. Run by the Club de Deporte de Montaña y Escalada Trail Moixent together with the Moixent town council, it is a fixed February fixture in the area. The 15th edition takes place on Saturday 20 February 2027.

A route on forest trail

The race has two options, both entirely within the municipality:

  • 21 km Trail, with about 1100 m of positive elevation gain and a time limit of 4 hours and 30 minutes. Approximate split: 9 % asphalt, 26 % forest track and 65 % forest trail.
  • 11.5 km Sprint Trail, with about 500 m of positive elevation gain and a time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes. Approximate split: 13 % asphalt, 14 % forest track and 73 % forest trail.

Most of the course is single-track, so grip and control on the descents matter more than raw speed. Both routes have aid stations, and the Trail has checkpoints at km 10.5 and km 13.34.

February in La Costera

The race takes place in winter, with cold mornings and shaded sections that can stay damp. Bring a windproof layer for the wait at the start and for the higher sections. Registration is managed through Mychip, so check the deadline for the edition.

Moixent and La Costera beyond the race

Moixent is a quiet town with a historic centre and a landscape of ranges and ravines that suits mountain training. By car you can reach Xàtiva, with its castle and wider accommodation options, and other villages in the district. If you are planning a trail season in the Valencian Community, you can browse the other races in the Comunidad Valenciana region and plan dates with the season planner.
