S1 Trail La Corsa della Bora

The S1 Trail La Corsa della Bora is a trail race held on the Trieste Karst and along the coast of the Gulf of Trieste. Its name comes from the bora, the cold wind that blows over the city. The 2027 edition takes place on 9 and 10 January with seven distances, from the 4 km Borin to the 116 km Bora Ultra.

A course over limestone and sea

  • Bora Ultra: 116.2 km and 3,930 m D+.
  • Trieste Ultra: 61.2 km and 2,323 m D+.
  • TransKarst Ultra: 55 km and 1,594 m D+.
  • Borderless Trail, Half Trail, Family Hike & Trail and Borin: for every level, from 36 km down to 4 km.

Starting the year on the Karst

The course follows limestone paths, with views over the Adriatic and wind-swept ridge sections. It is a winter race: temperatures are cold and conditions change quickly, so plan your layers from the start.

Trieste beyond the race

Trieste is a port city with historic cafés and a strong tradition of both mountains and sea. See also our race guides for Friuli Venezia Giulia and plan your kit with the planner.
