Urdazubiko Kontrabandisten Lasterketa
The Urdazubiko Kontrabandisten Lasterketa (UKL) remembers the smugglers who crossed the Pyrenean border through the mountains of Urdazubi/Urdax, in northern Navarre. In 2026 it celebrates its 25th anniversary on Saturday 10 October, a day where sport, history and nature meet. It is organised by Azkar Kirol Taldea and appears on the Navarra Cup mountain running poster.
Two races, one day
The Maratoi Erdia (21 km, 1,200 m D+, 9:00 start) follows historic smugglers’ tracks with a 4-hour cut-off. At 19:30 Gaueko Lanak (“night work”) starts: an 11 km, 650 m D+ night race with mandatory headlamp. For more, enter the combined option, 32 km and 1,700 m D+ in one day. A kids’ race, the UKL Txiki, runs at 17:00.
Autumn in the Navarrese Pyrenees
October brings golden beech forests but also mud and changing weather: choose grippy shoes, a windbreaker and a good headlamp. Registration closed on 30 September; if you missed it, note the date for the 2027 edition.
