Anfibios Trail Anna: run and swim along the Water Route

The Anfibios Trail Anna is one of the most original races on the Valencian calendar. It is not a regular trail run: it is an amphibious race that continuously alternates running sections with swimming sections through the bodies of water that have made the town of Anna, in the Canal de Navarrés region (Valencia), famous. Organised by Trifitness 31, it reaches its eighth edition in 2026.

The concept is as simple as it is fun: you run, you jump into the water, you swim, you climb out and you run again. Over 9 kilometres with 160 metres of positive elevation gain, participants cross Anna’s water landscapes, including a 70-metre open-water swim. That is why you must be a confident swimmer and at least 18 years old.

A course through the water of Anna

Anna is known as the town of water, and this race proves it. The course links some of its most spectacular spots:

  • Lake of Anna (Albufera) — the start and finish, a natural lake surrounded by vegetation.
  • Fuente de Marzo — one of the town’s emblematic springs.
  • Gorgo de la Escalera — an impressive waterfall set into the rock, a natural gem of the area.

Starts are staggered in four waves (15:30, 16:30, 17:30 and 18:30) to avoid bottlenecks at the water crossings and give each runner a smoother experience.

A different kind of summer race

Held in early July and combining running with swimming, the Anfibios Trail Anna is a refreshing option for the hot months, when conventional mountain trail running becomes tough. Water stops being an obstacle and becomes the heart of the race. Even so, the afternoon sun inland in Valencia is intense: hydration and water-resistant sun protection matter as much as your footwear.

Anna and the Canal de Navarrés beyond the race

Anna and its Canal de Navarrés region are a freshwater paradise deep in inland Valencia. Anna’s Water Route takes in the Lake, the Albufera, the Fuente de Marzo, the Gorgo de la Escalera and the Cova dels Anguilers in a walk suitable for the whole family. It is the perfect way to turn the race into a weekend getaway.
