Trail Peña Rubia 2026: what to expect

The 12th edition, run by the club CDME Trail Villena with Villena town council, limits entries to 400 runners across the Trail (start 08:30), the Sprint Trail and the 13 km hike (both 09:00). The finish closes at 13:30.

The race takes place on 1 November 2026 in Villena, in the Alto Vinalopó area (Comunidad Valenciana), with start and finish at the APADIS swimming pool. It is organised by Club de Deportes de Montaña y Escalada Trail Villena and the long race starts at 08:30. Registration closes on 27 October at 23:59.

Routes and elevation

There are 2 routes: Trail 21K (21 km, ≈1,000 m D+) and Sprint Trail 16K (16 km, ≈800 m D+). Elevation marked with ≈ is approximate, calculated from the tracks published by the organisers, so check it against the official profile. The long race means about 48 m of climbing per kilometre, so pace the ascents and look for good grip on the descents.

Preparation and gear

In late October and early November mornings are cool and afternoons mild, so dress in layers and carry a light windbreaker in your vest. Shoes with medium lugs, a hydration vest with at least half a litre and some solid food for the aid stations cover most situations. If the climbing worries you, folding poles can help on the final stretch.
