The Canary Islands are Spain's most complete trail running destination: Transgrancanaria, Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB, Transvulcania and more. Volcanoes, laurel forests, coastline and subtropical climate all 12 months of the year.

Climate in Canary Islands: The privilege of the Canary Islands is that you can run all 12 months of the year. Coastal temperatures hover around 20-25 °C year-round, while summit temperatures can drop below 5 °C. Summer is viable if you avoid midday hours in low areas. In winter, while mainland Spain is under snow, the big races take place here: Transgrancanaria in February, Tenerife Bluetrail in June, Transvulcania in autumn. The key is altitude: each island has microclimates that change dramatically with elevation.

Dress in layers: January mornings can be below zero in the mountains, but you will warm up quickly while running.
Use shoes with good drainage and mud traction — January terrain is often wet.
Warm up longer than usual: muscles take longer to activate in the cold.
