Which GPS watch for Ultra Tour du Beaufortain
For Ultra Tour du Beaufortain, what really matters in a watch is that the battery lasts to the finish. We estimate a mid-pack runner's time and recommend the watch whose battery covers it with margin.
Our recommendation
Garmin
Garmin Instinct 3 Solar 45 mm
Ultra-rugged 45 mm GPS watch with solar charging, LED flashlight and health monitoring. Up to 28 days of battery in smartwatch mode with solar charging. For those who prioritise toughness and battery over onboard maps on their mountain outings.
Why this watch
Ultra Tour du Beaufortain is run over more than a day (estimate ~31h 52min). You need extreme battery life: a watch that can record 40 h or more in GPS, or one with a power-saving mode and on-the-go charging.
Other options to consider
Suunto
Suunto 9 Peak Pro
Titanium mountain watch with AMOLED display, multi-band GPS and sapphire glass. Up to 40 h in multi-band GPS mode and 300 h in tour mode, at just 64 g. Suunto's high end without the size and extreme battery of the Vertical, for those who prioritise lightness and premium finishes.
Amazfit
Amazfit T-Rex 3
Ultra-rugged outdoor watch with dual-band GPS, offline maps and a 2,000-nit AMOLED display, at a mid-range price. 42 h in maximum-accuracy mode and up to 27 days in daily use. Military standard, 100 m water resistance and onboard music. Garmin Instinct-style toughness for far less.
