Costa Brava Stage Run

The Costa Brava Stage Run is a 3-day stage race along the Girona coastline from south to north, from Blanes to Colera. Two options: 120K and 85K, following the GR-92 and the Camí de Ronda through cliffs, coves, natural parks, and charming coastal towns.

The Costa Brava Stage Run (CBSR) is one of the most spectacular stage races in Spain. Now in its 8th edition, it combines 3 days of trail running with the wild beauty of the Costa Brava, always running close to the sea along the legendary Camí de Ronda and the GR-92 long-distance path.

The course

The route follows the Girona coastline from end to end, alternating between rocky cliffs, hidden coves, Mediterranean pine forests, and fishing villages with centuries of history. Runners traverse two natural parks and pass through iconic locations like Tossa de Mar, L’Estartit, Cadaqués, and Cap de Creus.

The terrain is varied: technical rocky trails, forest tracks, stone steps carved into the Camí de Ronda, and beach sections. Despite the moderate altitude, the cumulative elevation gain and uneven terrain make this a demanding race.

Stage race format

The CBSR is more than just a race: it’s a 3-day experience. The organization handles transport between stage start locations, and evenings are spent in Costa Brava towns. The Full Experience option includes hotel, dinner, and breakfast, turning the race into a complete adventure.

Each stage has its own classification, with a cumulative overall ranking. Runners can enjoy the afternoons and evenings exploring coastal towns, dining at local restaurants, and recovering for the next stage.

Weather and season

April on the Costa Brava offers pleasant temperatures (15-22°C), plenty of sunshine, and the sea still calm. It’s pre-tourist season, so the towns are quiet and prices are lower than in summer.
