Entremontañas Paralelo 28

Entremontañas Paralelo 28 is a trail running celebration in Gran Canaria’s wildest corner. La Aldea de San Nicolás, the island’s most isolated municipality, opens its mountains to runners with courses through some of the archipelago’s most impressive natural landscapes.

The course

The Entremontañas trails cross three protected natural areas within the Gran Canaria Biosphere Reserve:

  • Tamadaba — Centuries-old Canarian pine forest with sea views from 1,400 metres
  • Inagua — Strict nature reserve with pine forests and almond trees
  • Roque Nublo area — Ridges and ravines with panoramic views of Gran Canaria’s summit

The main 24K distance with 1,185 metres of elevation gain is accessible for runners with mountain experience, while the 16K Corta is a good option for those new to Canarian skyrunning.

La Aldea de San Nicolás

Getting to La Aldea is an adventure in itself. The GC-200 road along Gran Canaria’s west coast is one of Spain’s most spectacular drives, carved into the Atlantic cliffs. The municipality maintains its rural and agricultural character, with tomato farming as its hallmark. This is a very different Gran Canaria from the southern beaches.
