Trail Races in September in Spain 2026

September is, alongside May, the other great month for trail running in Spain. The heat begins to ease, days are still long and the mountains offer exceptional racing conditions. Many of the calendar's most prestigious ultras take place in September, capitalising on that perfect time window between summer and autumn. Forests begin to show the first autumn colours, streams carry water again after the dry summer and temperatures allow comfortable running at any altitude. It is the favourite month of many ultra-trail runners for their main season objectives.
