Trail Cova da Bruxa

Trail Cova da Bruxa is a mountain race starting from Serres (Muros, A Coruña) that crosses the mountains of Muros on Galicia’s Costa da Morte. Organised by Club de Atletismo Serres Runners, it celebrates its 5th edition in 2026 with a full weekend programme.

The distances

Four competitive distances spread across Saturday and Sunday, plus a walking route:

  • Trail das Forcadas (26K) — 1600 m of elevation gain. The flagship distance, starting at 9:00 on Sunday. A demanding course through Atlantic mountain trails with views over the Muros-Noia estuary.
  • Trail Cova de Jatos (15K) — 950 m D+. Mid-distance starting at 9:15. Ideal for those seeking a serious challenge without the demands of the long race.
  • Trail de Rebordelo (9K) — 450 m D+. Starting at 9:30. Perfect for those new to mountain trail running.
  • Carreira Vertical Serres Uphill (3.5K) — 450 m D+. Saturday at 17:00. Pure climbing with a brutal km-to-elevation ratio.

The Cova da Bruxa

The race takes its name from the Cova da Bruxa (Witch’s Cave), a legendary cave in the Muros area surrounded by myths and legends about Galician bruxas (witches). The course passes through this magical site, connecting runners with the deepest folklore of Galicia. Muros and the Costa da Morte

Muros is a fishing village at the mouth of the Muros-Noia estuary, gateway to the Costa da Morte. Granite architecture, fishing harbour, centuries-old granaries and extraordinary Atlantic cuisine. The area deserves extra days before or after the race to explore Fisterra, Muxía and the wild beaches of Carnota.
