Trail Tierras Pésicas

Trail Tierras Pésicas runs through the valleys and mountains of Cangas del Narcea in southwestern Asturias. The 13th edition (2026) offers two main distances: a Trail of 23.5 km with 2,800m of elevation gain and a Speed Trail of 10 km with 533m D+. The race honours the Pésicos, the pre-Roman Asturian people who inhabited these lands.

The Course

The 23.5-kilometre Trail is a demanding race with nearly 3,000 metres of accumulated elevation gain. The course winds through vineyards of the DOP Cangas, riverside forests along the Narcea and mountain trails with views over southwestern Asturias. One of the most iconic points is the crossing of the medieval Ambasaguas bridge, where the Luiña and Narcea rivers meet.

The 10 km Speed Trail with 533m D+ offers a more accessible but equally spectacular alternative, sharing some of the most beautiful sections of the longer course.

An Authentic Mountain Trail

With a ratio of over 119 metres of elevation gain per kilometre, the Trail Tierras Pésicas is pure mountain racing. Climbs and descents follow one another relentlessly, demanding good downhill technique and effort management on the steep sections. Use our pace calculator to plan your effort across the relentless climbs. The terrain combines mountain paths, forest tracks and vineyard sections, with the possibility of mud and dampness typical of Asturian autumn.

Cangas del Narcea and the Pésicos

Cangas del Narcea is the capital of southwestern Asturias and the gateway to the Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña and Ibias Natural Park, home to the Cantabrian brown bear and the Muniellos forest, one of Spain’s most important biosphere reserves.

The town has a millennial history linked to the Asturian people known as the Pésicos, who resisted the Roman conquest. The area is also the birthplace of the DOP Cangas, Spain’s smallest wine designation of origin, with hillside vineyards that the race course itself crosses.

November in Asturias

November marks the end of Asturian autumn. Days are short, temperatures range from 3 to 12°C, and rain is a regular companion. Chestnut and oak forests offer a spectacular autumn colour palette. A waterproof jacket is not optional, and you should prepare to run in cold, damp conditions.
