Gran Trail Aneto-Posets: the Greatest Mountain Celebration

The Gran Trail Trangoworld Aneto-Posets (GTTAP) is one of the most spectacular trail running races in Europe. Held from Benasque — the heart of the Aragonese Pyrenees — it circles the two highest peaks of the Pyrenean range: Aneto (3,404 m) and Posets (3,375 m).

With six distances ranging from a vertical kilometer to a 105 km ultra, GTTAP has established itself as “the greatest mountain celebration,” attracting runners from across Europe to the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park.

The Gran Trail 105K: Among Giants

The flagship race is the Gran Trail Aneto-Posets 105K, with 6,760 meters of elevation gain across all types of terrain: tracks, trails, snowfields, and boulder chaos circling the two rooftops of the Pyrenees.

The course starts at midnight on Friday from Benasque and reaches Col de la Forqueta at 2,900 m, the highest point of the race. Over 40 kilometers run above 2,000 meters altitude, making cold management, altitude, and weather decisive factors. Plan your fueling strategy with our nutrition calculator to match the extreme energy demands of this course.

Key aspects of the 105K:

  • Semi-self-sufficiency with solid and liquid aid stations
  • Mandatory SPOT satellite tracker for each runner
  • 350 spots that fill up quickly
  • Classified as UTMB 100M in the UTMB World Index

Vuelta al Aneto 55K and Maratón de las Tucas 42K

The Vuelta al Aneto 55K traverses the Maladeta massif with 3,630 m D+, passing through Collado de Salenques (2,808 m) and the Cap de Llauset and Coronas refuges. A compact and demanding ultra starting Saturday at 7:00 AM.

The Maratón de las Tucas 42K offers 2,500 m D+ passing through the Estós and Ángel Orús refuges, with passage through Tucas de Ixeia (2,840 m). Classified as UTMB 50K, it starts at 8:00 AM Saturday.

Vuelta a Cerler, Vuelta al Molino, and VK

The Vuelta a Cerler 27K offers 1,250 m D+ on Sunday morning, an ideal distance for those seeking demanding mountain running without the commitment of an ultra.

The Vuelta al Molino de Cerler 11K with 460 m D+ is the perfect race for getting started in mountain racing, also on Sunday.

The KV Aneto-Posets kicks off the celebration on Thursday: 5.4 km and 980 m D+ climbing from Llanos del Hospital to Pico Salvaguardia (2,735 m), from 1,750 m to 2,735 m altitude.

Benasque: Capital of the Pyrenees

Benasque is the epicenter of mountaineering in the central Pyrenees. The Benasque Valley provides direct access to the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park, with landscapes of glacial lakes, waterfalls, black pine forests, and the highest peaks of the entire mountain range.

GTTAP contributes to the economic development of valley communities while always maintaining respect for the Natural Park’s environment. The atmosphere during the four days of the event is one of authentic mountain celebration, with runners, families, and enthusiasts sharing their passion for the mountains.
