Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls

Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls is the premier ultra trail event in Menorca and one of the most unique races in the Mediterranean. The event follows the Camí de Cavalls, a historic 14th-century path that circles the entire island along the coast. “8 adventures, 1 legend” is the motto of a race offering 7 individual distances, from an introductory 11K to the epic 185K full circumnavigation.

The 14th edition takes place from May 1 to 3, 2026, with Ciutadella de Menorca as the hub.

The flagship race: TMCDC 185K

The TMCDC 185K is the full circumnavigation of Menorca along the Camí de Cavalls: 185 kilometers, 3,500 meters of elevation gain, and a 40-hour time limit. It starts from Ciutadella in two waves (8:30 AM and 3:30 PM). Only 1 in 2 runners reaches the finish line — a statistic that speaks to the challenge. The course passes through 14 aid stations spread around the entire coastline.

The distances

  • TMCDC 185K — Full island circumnavigation. 3,500m D+. Start from Ciutadella.
  • TMCN 100K — North coast. 2,300m D+. Start from Mahón Harbour.
  • TMCS 85K — South coast. 1,200m D+. Start from Es Castell.

The Camí de Cavalls

The Camí de Cavalls (literally “horse path”) is a perimeter trail that circles Menorca. It dates back to the 14th century, when it was used for coastal surveillance. Today it’s an officially designated long-distance trail and a cultural heritage site of Menorca, winding along cliffs, unspoiled coves, holm oak forests, white sand beaches, and ravines. Varied terrain combining rock, dirt, sand, and Mediterranean forest sections. Plan your fueling strategy with our nutrition calculator for the ultra-distance events.

Menorca in May

May is an excellent time to visit Menorca: pleasant temperatures (18-24°C), long days, little rain, and the island not yet overrun by summer crowds. Menorca has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1993, ensuring an exceptional natural environment. After the race, explore the south coast coves (Macarella, Turqueta, Mitjana), fishing villages, Menorcan cuisine, and the Talayotic archaeological sites.

Registration

Registration is managed through the EliteChip platform. Spots are limited, especially for the longer distances (185K and 100K) which sell out first. Check the official website for prices and registration periods.
