Mallorca by UTMB

Mallorca by UTMB is a UTMB World Series event held every autumn in the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With 4 distances from 26K to 138K, the race traverses one of the most spectacular mountain landscapes in the Mediterranean.

The third edition in 2026 takes place from October 30 to November 1, with all races finishing in Port de Sóller, a coastal village nestled in the bay of the island’s most iconic mountain range.

The course

The flagship race, the SDT 138K (Serra de Tramuntana), starts from Cala Estellencs at 22:00 on Friday with 5,350m of elevation gain and a 30-hour-30-minute time limit. The route traverses the entire mountain range from south to north, passing through villages like Valldemossa, Bunyola, Orient, Alaró, and Fornalutx, with sections along the legendary GR-221 (Dry Stone Route).

The races start from different locations across the range:

  • SDT 138K — Starts from Cala Estellencs on Friday at 22:00. Full night in the mountains.
  • CPS 104K — Starts from Cala Estellencs on Saturday at 06:00. Dry Stone Paths.
  • ETM 56K — Starts from Selva on Saturday at 08:00. The Three Thousands.
  • CDA 26K — Starts from Valldemossa on Sunday at 09:00. Paths of the Archduke.

The Serra de Tramuntana

The Serra de Tramuntana is a 90 km mountain range along the northwest coast of Mallorca. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011 for its cultural landscape, it combines dizzying cliffs overlooking the sea, holm oak and Mediterranean pine forests, peaks exceeding 1,000 metres, and a centuries-old network of dry stone paths that gives one of the races its name.

Runners pass through villages steeped in history such as Valldemossa, Deià, and Fornalutx (considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain), with constant views of the Mediterranean.

UTMB World Series

Mallorca by UTMB is part of the UTMB World Series. The SDT 138K awards 4 Running Stones and qualifies top runners for the UTMB Mont-Blanc Finals. The CPS 104K awards 3, the ETM 56K 2, and the CDA 26K 1 Running Stone. Read our ITRA points guide to understand the UTMB qualification system.

Mallorca in autumn

October is an ideal time to visit Mallorca: mild temperatures (18-24°C), fewer tourists than summer, and the mountain range at its autumnal best. Combining the race with a few days of holiday is an excellent choice: beaches, Mallorcan cuisine, mountain villages, and hiking routes through the Tramuntana.

Use our time estimator to set your goals for the SDT 138K, and review the mandatory gear guide to prepare. Explore more races in the Balearic Islands.
