Climate in Canary Islands: The privilege of the Canary Islands is that you can run all 12 months of the year. Coastal temperatures hover around 20-25 °C year-round, while summit temperatures can drop below 5 °C. Summer is viable if you avoid midday hours in low areas. In winter, while mainland Spain is under snow, the big races take place here: Transgrancanaria in February, Tenerife Bluetrail in June, Transvulcania in autumn. The key is altitude: each island has microclimates that change dramatically with elevation.

Tips for running in Canary Islands in february

Check the weather forecast in the days before: February is unpredictable and changes fast in the mountains.

If the race has high altitudes, carry microspikes in case of ice patches in shaded areas.

Hydration: even in the cold you still lose fluid. Do not reduce water intake.
