The Kilómetro Vertical Media Legua Gruesa is a vertical skyrunning race starting from Barranco de Geva in Purchena (Almería), in the heart of the Almanzora Valley. Organized by Purchena Town Council and Montur Eventos, the race presents a maximum-intensity challenge: 5 km with 900 meters of elevation gain.
The course
The race starts in the Barranco de Geva and climbs the slopes of the Almería mountains with sustained gradients:
- Barranco de Geva — Start from the ravine floor, dry riverbed and rocky terrain
- Continuous ascent — 900 meters of elevation gain in just 5 kilometers
- Almería landscapes — Mountains of the Almanzora Valley with views of desert and sierra
This is a demanding event, designed for runners experienced in verticals and extreme gradients.
