Frequently asked questions

How does this race quiz work?
By answering 6 questions about your experience, distance preference, landscape type, season, budget and priorities, our algorithm scores each race from 0 to 100% compatibility and shows you the 3 best options with the most suitable distance for your level.
What trail races are there in Spain?
Spain has some of the world's best trail races: Ultra Pirineu, Transgrancanaria, Zegama-Aizkorri, Tenerife Bluetrail, Transvulcania, Ultra Sierra Nevada, Picos de Europa Trail, Penyagolosa Trails, Travesera de los Picos de Europa and Jurramendi 360. Each offers different landscapes and challenges.
Which trail race is easiest for beginners?
Jurramendi 360 in Navarra is the only intermediate-level race in our selection, with a short 12 km distance (Txiki Trail). Other races like Ultra Sierra Nevada (21K), Picos de Europa Trail (16K) or Transgrancanaria (Starter 19K) also offer shorter distances within advanced-level events.
What are UTMB points and why do they matter?
UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc) points are a classification system that allows runners to accumulate points by participating in official UTMB World Series races. These points are required to register for the UTMB and other circuit races in Chamonix. In Spain, races like Ultra Pirineu, Transgrancanaria, Tenerife Bluetrail and Penyagolosa Trails award UTMB points.
How much does it cost to enter a trail race?
Registration fees range from €20 for short distances to over €100 for prestigious ultras. You also need to factor in travel (especially for Canary Islands races), accommodation and gear. Our Pack 360 for each race details all costs.
When are most trail races held in Spain?
Races are spread throughout the year: late winter-early spring (February-March) for the Canary Islands and Navarra, spring (April-May) for the Mediterranean and Basque Country, summer (June-July) for high mountain peninsular races, and autumn (September-October) for the Pyrenees and Picos de Europa.
